FAQ

Does this work with JPEGs?

JPEGs don't support transparency, so this tool is primarily useful for PNG files. You can upload a JPEG, but there will be no transparent areas to fill. The result will look the same as the input.

Why is the output always PNG?

PNG is a lossless format that preserves every pixel exactly. Saving as JPEG would introduce compression artifacts. If you need a JPEG after filling the background, you can use our PNG to JPG converter afterward.

Can I make the background transparent again?

Once a background color is merged into the image, it cannot be removed automatically unless you know the exact original color. You would need to use a background removal tool after the fact.
