What Is an Image Frame?

An image frame or border adds a decorative or structural margin around a photo, separating it from the background and giving it a finished, gallery-ready look. This tool supports five frame styles — Solid, Double, Polaroid, Shadow, and Gradient — each with adjustable width, color, padding, and optional rounded corners for the image. Processing happens entirely in your browser.

How to Use

  • Drop or select any JPEG, PNG, or WebP image
  • Choose a frame style from the five options
  • Adjust Border Width to control how thick the frame is
  • Adjust Padding to add white space between the image and the frame
  • Pick a frame color (and a second color for Gradient mode)
  • Optionally set Corner Radius to round the image corners
  • Click Download to save as PNG

FAQ

Why is the output always PNG?

The frame adds pixels around the original image, changing its dimensions. PNG is lossless and supports transparency, making it the best format for the composite result regardless of the input format.

What is Padding vs Border Width?

Border Width is the frame itself — the colored ring around the photo.Padding adds an inner margin between the photo and the frame, using the Padding Color. This creates a mat-board effect, like a picture in a physical frame.

How does the Polaroid style work?

Polaroid style uses the same solid frame color but adds an extra-wide margin at the bottom — about 2.5× the border width — mimicking the classic Polaroid instant photo look. Set the frame color to white for an authentic effect.
