What Is a Unit Price Calculator?

A unit price calculator helps you compare products of different sizes and prices by converting them all to a common cost-per-unit basis. Instead of mentally comparing a 16 oz bottle at $3.99 vs a 24 oz bottle at $5.49, you can instantly see which gives you more value per ounce or per item.

How to Use

  • Enter the price, quantity, and unit for each product
  • Give each product a name for easy reference (e.g. "Brand A", "Store brand")
  • Add more products with the "Add Product" button
  • The best value (lowest price per unit) is highlighted automatically

Features

  • Compare up to any number of products side-by-side
  • Supports weight (oz, lb, g, kg), volume (ml, L, fl oz), and count-based units
  • Savings percentage vs most expensive option shown per product
  • Rank order makes the best-value choice immediately obvious

FAQ

Can I compare products with different units?

For meaningful comparisons, all products should use the same unit (e.g. all in oz or all in kg). Comparing oz to kg directly will give mathematically correct per-unit costs but the units would not be equivalent in real life.

Does bigger always mean better value?

Not always. While bulk buying often reduces cost per unit, consider whether you can use the product before it expires, storage space, and whether a sale price on a smaller size might make it a better deal at that moment.

What does "savings vs most expensive" mean?

It shows how much cheaper each product is compared to the most expensive option on a per-unit basis. A 30% savings means you pay 30% less per unit than the priciest choice.
